The name Hefsiba is derived from a Hebrew word, which can be translated, as "In her is my delight". In Isaiah 62:4 we read: "You shall no longer be termed forsaken, nor shall your land any more be termed desolate but you shall be called Hephzibah
- for the Lord delights in you". (New King James Version)

Hefsiba CTC (Christian Theological College) is an institution in the northern parts of Mozambique which is known for its academic excellence, its sound doctrine and solid leadership development . Hefsiba has an impact on the general moral life of the citizens and is playing an important role in the development
of Mozambique through creative leadership training and its holistic approach.

Students receive:

·        Bible- and theological training,

·        develop their English writing and speaking skills,

·        improve their knowledge of Portuguese,

·        become computer literate,

·        are trained as community development facilitators and

·        develop skills to lead the battle against HIV/AIDS.

The leadership style is one of servant hood, with Christian compassion towards the poor and the needy.

Not only do students here receive Bible and theological training bu also develop the ability to write and speak English, to better their knowledge of the Portuguese language, to become computer literate, to turn out as community development facilitators and able to lead the battle against HIV/AIDS. In general the leadership style conveyed is that of servant hood, with Christian compassion towards the poor and the needy.

The women (wives of the male students)  not only receive biblical teaching, but also the ability to preach and to do Bible studies. They leave the college with a knowledge of Children's ministry, women's work in the congregations, cooking, needlework, basic health, medicinal plants, English, Portuguese and computers.

With this contextualised, outcome based approach; Hefsiba serves as a model for other Theological Schools in Africa.
